Policy and Research
My interests have always been rooted in healthcare. During my undergraduate studies in Medical Genetics I explored the molecular basis of disease, approaches to disease treatment and screening methods among many other health-related topics. While my primary goal is to improve overall health, upon completion of my degree my interest shifted to disease prevention and control and reducing inequalities in health.
It became apparent to me that the majority of the strain on healthcare systems comes from preventable diseases which are disproportionately affecting some of the most marginalised groups. This perpetuated my desire to improve health outcomes for these illnesses through policy development and programme planning.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Africa Health Organisation as a Policy and Research volunteer and I hope this opportunity will allow me to develop and refine the skills needed to improve healthcare among the African Population.
