Rachel Cope-Thompson
Gender Equality Policy and Strategy
I am a final year undergraduate student studying history at Durham University. Throughout my degree I have chosen to specialise in modules relating to international human rights and gendered history, with my dissertation focussing on female political leadership.
After leaving University, I hope to go into development where I can be positioned to advocate and work for women’s rights and greater gender equality. Working as a Gender Strategy Volunteer for the African Health Organisation provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the wider conversation on obstacles facing women and contribute in promoting equity in health and bridging structural differences.
Outside of my studies, I have volunteered for a number of different organisations, including as an English tutor for asylum seekers and as a consultant for a number of different non-profits and social enterprises.
