Amanda LaCount is a well known professional hip hop dancer, choreographer, actress, singer, model, and influencer. She has been dancing since she was 2 years old. Amanda has 6 older brothers and sisters. While in Colorado Amanda was a competitive figure skater and qualified for Nationals. She was also a competitive all-star cheerleader on 4 National Champion Teams. Amanda danced competitively and attended Denver School of the Arts as a Dance Major from 6th to 9th grade. While in Colorado, Amanda performed in a number of professional musical productions including Annie, Sound of Music, The Wiz, Cheaper By The Dozen, Scrooge, Carousel, Fiddler On The Roof, Aladdin, Brigadoon, Alice In Wonderland, Jungle Book, Bye Bye Birdie, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Polar Express at regional dinner theatres and community theatres in Colorado and Wyoming, and the National Tour for the Wizard Of Oz. Amanda also enjoyed riding horses.
In 2015 Amanda moved from Colorado to Los Angeles to follow her dream of becoming a professional dancer and actress. Shortly after arriving, she was signed by Bloc Talent Agency. Amanda graduated with Honors from The Dance Academy at Champs Charter High School of Performing Arts. Many people are surprised to learn that Amanda always attended a traditional school and was never home schooled.
She is now pursuing her professional dance and acting career full-time.
Some of her most notable performances include performing in Rihanna’s “Savage X Fenty” Show at NYFW which is now streaming on Amazon Prime, dancing at Coachella with Lizzo, dancing with Meghan Trainor at the Radio Disney Music Awards, dancing on The Ellen Show with Keala Settle from “The Greatest Showman” movie, dancing with Disney’s “Descendants 2” Cast on DWTS, dancing on 2 Episodes of The Voice, dancing in Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish” music video feat. Nicki Minaj, dancing on the WNBA LA Sparks Crew for 2 years, and her own National Dance Tour “Amanda LaCount Live”. She also traveled to Paris, France to be featured in the music video “Comme Une Reine” (Like A Queen) for Madame Monsieur. Amanda is a member of Brian Friedman’s Entourage attending “The Main Event” in 2018 and 2019. She performed and taught at Move It in London (the UK’s largest dance festival with over 27,000 participants) as a Team Capezio Ambassador, Amanda sailed on the 2018 and 2019 Zumba Cruise to the Bahamas as a Social Media Influencer. In addition, she taught and was featured in the Final Show at Zincon 2018 and also attended in 2019. (This is an annual Zumba Convention for Certified Zumba Instructors from around the world held in Orlando, FL.)
Amanda was the November 2018 Dance Spirit Magazine Cover, the September 2019 Curvicality Magazine Cover, the October 2018 Cover for A Round of Applause Magazine, in the September 2017 Edition of FabUplus Magazine, and in the Winter 2019 Edition of Tiger Beat where she was named one of the “6 dancers we can’t stop watching”.
Amanda is very honored to have been part of Dove’s worldwide “#showus” campaign in ads and commercials; part of American Eagle Outfitter’s worldwide “Young Money” curvy jeans campaign in ads, store posters and commercials; and JCPenneys “Here I Am: Plus Size Athletes Fit At Any Size” campaign.
Currently Amanda trains at Millennium Dance Complex Los Angeles, Playground LA, and The Edge.
#breakingthestereotype™
Amanda has her own movement #breakingthestereotype™ which promotes body positivity and the belief that any “body” can be a dancer. She is breaking the stereotype that all dancers must be tall, thin and blonde. Her philosophy is “If you love it, do it. It’s as simple as that.”
Amanda is also a body positivity advocate. In 2019 she was the Guest Speaker and Performer at “Beautiful U” sponsored by Wood TV and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. (She will be presenting there again in 2020.) Amanda was on the Panel and Performed at the “Love Yourself” Networking Event in New York City sponsored by Bold Magazine. In addition, she was on the “Werk the Skin You’re In: Body Positivity” Panel and Performed RuPaul’s DragCon at the Los Angeles Convention Center, attended the Count Me In Global Leadership Summit in Toronto, Canada, Spoke on the Panel “Turning Pain Into Power” at the Youth EmpowHERment Sleepover at Cal State Northridge, and she Spoke and Performed at the Best Buddies Leadership Conference in Bloomington, Indiana.
Finally, in 2018 Amanda shot the film “Ali’s Realm” with Director Mario Torres (from “Shape of Water”). Some of Amanda’s other acting credits include one of Abby’s Girls in “Fat Camp” on BET, 7 Episodes of “School of Rock” as a dancer and student, on “Alexa and Katie” as a dancer and student, and co-starring roles on “Splitting Up Together” and “Good Girls”.
Currently Amanda is rehearsing for ABC’s “The Little Mermaid Live” Disney Production in the Role of Alana, one of Ariel’s sisters.
Amanda can’t wait to see what the future holds for her as she continues her mission of promoting confidence and body positivity. One of her goals is “to be the person I never had growing up” (to look up to as a role model).
